For decades after their discovery it was believed that they could not bond to other atoms; and when identified, they were thought to be exceedingly rare, as well as chemically inert, and therefore were called the rare or inert gases.

Did You Know? proud society’s GROUP Q1 theme for 2023 is THE NON-METALS, a mix of 6 diverse Pride, Social, Philanthropy, Service & Professional programming events themed back to the periodic chemical elements that range from colorless gases to shiny solids.
You can grill charcoal on a barbecue by the beach & watch drag queens play bingo with CARBON. Perhaps create smiles for others marching in a pride parade & laugh your laughing gas off as you get a full dose of NITROGEN. Or set sail by kayak under a full moon & walk it out along the coastline for a good cause while breathing in OXYGEN!
